| Q&A
with Stacey
Shawntee Arcangel
|
|
|
| How
long did your screenplay
take to write, from conception
to final completion? |
| From
outline to first draft it
took about six months. |
|
| Where
did your inspiration come
from? |
| I
had a vision of the opening
scene and took it from there.
My stories unfold scene
by scene - usually. |
|
| Is
Horror or Sci-Fi your main
creative interest? |
| I
love both - equally! I grew
up on "Creature Features"
and Star Trek. |
|
| Can
you describe a typical day
in the process of creating
your film or screenplay? |
| Things
just come to me when I'm
working on a project. I
see visions of the scenes
in my head and the characters
speak dialog to me. It just
plays out mentally and I
take lots of notes then
put it all together. |
|
| Who
do you consider to be the
greatest horror writer? |
| I
have to say Stephen King,
but Ann Rice is also a favorite. |
|
| Can
you recall the first horror
film that left a lasting
impression on you? |
| Several
actually. The original "The
Blob"; original "Omen"
(which I talked my Mom into
taking me to) and "Jaws"...
oh can't forget Carpenter's
"The Thing" |
|
| Who
do you consider to be the
greatest 'Masters of Horror'? |
| John
Carpenter, Wes Craven, Don
Coscarelli and of course
George Romero. |
|
| Do
you currently have any attachments
and/or a cast wishlist for
your screenplay? |
| Definately
a wish list: Rosario Dawson,
James Marsters, Suzie Plakson,
Matt Dallas for starters! |
|
| Who
do you see directing your
screenplay and why? |
| In
my dreams it would be Robert
Rodriguez, because he's
a genius. |
|
| How
many edits has your screenplay
gone through? |
| I
lost count! No, seriously...
five major rewrites &
several minor edits. |
|
Was
this your first screenplay?
If so, are you inspired
to write another? |
| Yes,
"The Agenda" was
my first. I've written two
others, one a supernatural
thriller called "A
Secret View." And I've
written a treatment for
a sci-fi series that I'm
working on with OceanBlue
Entertainment. |
