|
| How
long did your screenplay
take to write, from conception
to final completion? |
| This
one took only about an hour
to write. I had the idea
for a few days before, and
by the time I sat down to
write it, it just flowed
out of me. |
|
| Where
did your inspiration come
from? |
| The
fear of losing a loved one.
The work is about a happy
couple in love, but what
happens when one person
is devoted to another and
the object of that person's
affection dies? If you've
devoted your life to another's
life and that life no longer
exists, there is a large
part of you missing and
that's what I tried to convey
here. |
|
| Are
Horror and Sci-Fi your main
creative interests? |
| Always
have been. I write other
genres, but I focus mostly
on horror. |
|
| Can
you describe a typical day
in the process of creating
your film or screenplay? |
| It
doesn't work if I set out
to write. It has to come
to me and at that moment
sit and write. If I sit
down and say I'm writing
now, I'll accomplish nothing. |
|
| Who
do you consider to be the
greatest horror writer? |
| I
can't say. There are too
many. |
|
| Can
you recall the first horror
film that left a lasting
impression on you? |
| "Witchboard"
scared the hell out of me
as a child. That was an
unexpected one too. My cousins
Joe and Angela rented it
and told me to watch it
and it terrified me. |
|
| Who
do you consider to be the
greatest 'Masters of Horror'? |
| Again,
there are so many. It depends
on my mood. I'll throw in
a John Carpenter movie or
a Dario Argento movie or
even the late Bruno Mattei
lately. Unfortunately, we
lost 4 greats this year
in Mattei, Bob Clark, Val
Guest and Freddie Francis.
|
|
| Do
you currently have any attachments
and/or a cast wishlist for
your screenplay? |
| The
female lead, Zara, was originally
written for Valerie Querns,
a wonderful actress in the
Los Angeles area. |
|
| Who
do you see directing your
screenplay and why? |
| I'll
probably have to settle
for me, though I hope I
can get a better director.. |
|
| How
many edits has your screenplay
gone through? |
| None.
It was written to be a silent
short and it remains one.
I'm shocked that a script
with no second draft made
it this far, but I think
the emotions the minute
I was writing it poured
into the script and for
me to change that would
falsify it. |
|
Was
this your first screenplay?
If so, are you inspired
to write another? |
| No.
I won 2nd Place last year
at Shriekfest for my script
"The Last Request."
I've been writing screenplays
for about 10 years, since
I was in high school. It's
always been a great outlet
for me. I didn't start entering
competitions until last
year and only because my
wonderful girlfriend, Michelle,
was behind me and encouraged
me. If it wasn't for that,
the scripts would be sitting
in a box. |
