|
| How
long did your screenplay
take to write, from conception
to final completion? |
| Three
months. |
|
| Where
did your inspiration come
from? |
| All
of the haunted houses that
pop up around Halloween
time. Knotts Berry Farms,
Spooky House, etc... and
the annual "Burning
Man" event. |
|
| Are
Horror or Sci-Fi your main
creative interests? |
| I
love horror, comedy, thrillers,
musicals, and action/adventure.
Most genres actually. |
|
| Can
you describe a typical day
in the process of creating
your film or screenplay? |
| When
I finally nailed down the
basic hook for the story,
I start writing about five
to ten pages a day, almost
every day until I reach
"THE END". |
|
| Who
do you consider to be the
greatest horror writer? |
| I'm
a fan of Edgar Allan Poe
and I also like many scripts
by John Carpenter, George
A. Romero and Tom Holland.
Also Bill Lanchester's script
for Carpenter's THE THING
is excellent. Also, even
though she is considered
mystery, I'm a big fan of
Agatha Christie. |
|
| Can
you recall the first horror
film that left a lasting
impression on you? |
| ABBOTT
AND COSTELLO MEET DR. JEKYLL
AND MR. HYDE when I was
almost four. Then of course,
ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET
FRANKENSTEIN. As for straight
horror, the 1979 INVASION
OF THE BODY SNATCHERS gave
me nightmares for weeks.
I was ten years old at the
time! |
|
| Who
do you consider to be the
greatest 'Masters of Horror'? |
| For
the influence and amount
of great horror movies,
I still have to go with
JOHN CARPENTER but I also
feel BOB CLARK should be
included with the original
BLACK CHRISTMAS, DEATH DREAM,
and MURDER BY DECREE. |
|
| Do
you currently have any attachments
and/or a cast wishlist for
your screenplay? |
| No
attachments yet. There are
a lot of great roles for
actors. I saw the role of
Mr. Cross, the owner of
HORROR WORLD as a cross
between Gene Wilder in WILLY
WONKA, Jonathan Pryce in
SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY
COMES, Peter O'Toole in
THE STUNTMAN and Robert
Powell in DARK FORCES. Also
for the role of Nina, I
would cast TIFFANY SHEPIS. |
|
| Who
do you see directing your
screenplay? |
| I
would love to, but at the
budget it needs to be made
for, I probably would not
be in the running. It would
need a good action/horror
director. Neil Marshall
is a current favorite. I
think Guillermo Del Toro
could also do an amazing
job. |
|
| How
many edits has your screenplay
gone through? |
| Four
drafts so far. |
|
Was
this your first screenplay?
If so, are you inspired
to write another? |
| No,
it was not my first and
it is already not my last. |
