|
| How
long did your project take
to create, from conception
to final completion? |
| Seven months. |
|
| Where
did your inspiration come
from? |
| True stories of resurrection men working in the South. And the morality of wrong deeds being punished. |
|
| Is
Horror or Sci-Fi your primary
creative interest? |
| Horror - specifically the supernatural. I am drawn to (and frightened by) the idea of true evil existing in our day to day lives. |
|
| Can
you describe a typical day
in the creative process? |
| I can only focus on actual writing for an hour or two each day. I like to read and research ideas to get inside the concept. As far as during actual production, you give all your time and effort -- there's nothing else you want more. |
|
| Who
do you consider to be the
greatest horror writer? |
| Poe. And Stephen King. |
|
|
| Can
you recall the first horror
film that left a lasting
impression on you? |
| Poltergeist. Didn't help that my sister's name really is Carol Ann.. |
|
| Who
do you consider to be the
greatest 'Masters of Horror'? |
| John Carpenter, Wes Craven, Dario Argento. There are lots of others who have done a masterful job but aren't strictly genre directors, i.e., Spielberg, Brad Anderson, Ridley Scott, etc... |
|
| How
did you find your cast? |
| Most were local to Tallahasse where I was in film school at Florida State. The lead is from LA where we held 2 days of auditions. |
|
| What
is you most memorable moment
while making your film? |
| Filming on the set of Tim Burton's "Big Fish" in Alabama. |
|
| Did
you shoot on film or with
digital cameras? |
| It was shot on Super16 with an Arri SRIII. In post it went through a digital intermediate to master on HD. My DP, Rodrigo Rocha-Campos, won the 2006 ASC Heritage Award for his work on the film. |
|
| How
many members of your cast
and crew? |
| Five
actors - Forty crewmembers. |
|
| What was the final editing process like ? |
| We edited for about 6 weeks, with a couple of test screenings along the way. The final cut ended up being very much a compromise with the film school faculty. |
|
| If
you could choose any famous
actors to work with on future
projects, who would they
be? |
| Gosh, that's hard to answer - there are so many talented people out there! I will say I've been recently enamored with Julie Benz (Dexter, Buffy, Angel) and would love to see her make the leap to the big screen. And a dream actor would be Christian Bale. |
