|
| How
long did your project take
to create, from conception
to final completion? |
| Nearly
12 months. I came up with
the idea last fall but couldn't
coordinate everyone's schedules
until March, when we shot
it on St. Patrick's Day.
Because of my busy work
schedule, post was relegated
to evenings and weekends,
so it took months to complete.. |
|
| Where
did your inspiration come
from? |
| It
came from giving myself
the challenge to come up
with something that was
both short and intense that
could be shot in one location
in a single night. |
|
| Is
Horror or Sci-Fi your primary
creative interest? |
| Yes, horror AND sci-fi have always been my primary interest though I often infuse comedy into my work |
|
| Can
you describe a typical day
in the creative process? |
As
a writer, I like to start
early in the day, as opposed
to late at night. Because
this piece was so short
and I had a clear picture
in my mind of what I wanted
it to be, it only took about
an hour to write. I did
two revisions before shooting
it.
As for filming, I assembled
a talented crew, many of
whom I'd worked with before.
The entire evening's work
was scheduled, so everyone
knew what had to be accomplished.
The cast was equally as
professional. Considering
the grimness of the subject,
I tried to keep the atmosphere
light without breaking the
actors' mood. |
|
| Who
do you consider to be the
greatest horror writer? |
| Poe
still does it for me. |
|
|
| Can
you recall the first horror
film that left a lasting
impression on you? |
| There
were many, including BRIDES
OF DRACULA, PIT AND THE
PENDULUM, and MR. SARDONICUS. |
|
| Who
do you consider to be the
greatest 'Master of Horror'? |
| Though
considered more a master
of suspense/thrillers, Hitchcock
is one of the most consistent
and prolific. There are
many others who have done
great films, including Carpenter,
Argento, Romero, Cronenberg,
etc. though they don't always
work in the genre and not
all of their work is great. |
|
| How
did you find your cast? |
| I'd
met Lynn Lowry a few years
earlier and had discussed
the possibility of working
together. Both Chuck and
David I knew personally
but had never worked with
them before as actors. |
|
| What
is you most memorable moment
while making your film? |
| Taking
Lynn shopping for lingerie. |
|
| Did
you choose from several
versions of the film? |
| Not
really. We just continued
to fine-tune it until locking
the picture. |
|
| Did
you shoot on film or with
digital cameras? |
| Digital.
There is absolutely no point
in shooting film, especially
for a short. |
|
| How
many members of your cast
and crew? |
| Three
castmembers, sixteen people
in the crew. |
|
| If
you could choose any famous
actors to work with on future
projects, who would they
be? |
| There
are too many to list but
it would be great to work
with Christopher Lee. |
