Charles Dickens,
Jack London, Joyce
Carol Oates, not
to mention Poe,
Hawthorne, Lovecraft...
so many of the great
writers of western
literature wrote
tales of supernatural
horror as short
storys.
Rod Serling made
the 30 minute fright
a modern classic.
Yet in the first
decade of the 21st
Century the short-form
horror tale has
fallen out of favor.
Fortunately, with
the success of the
Masters of Horror
anthology series
and the growing
interest in horror
themed film festivals,
[see the Dark Romance
coverage of Hollywood's
Shriekfest]
the bite-sized delights
of mini-horrors
are becoming easier
to find.
Special praise goes
to Fangoria for
their prime cuts
of concentrated
fear on their Blood
Drive DVD.
Perfect when you
need a "fix"
of fright but don't
have time for a
feature. Or consume
them all in a horror
binge like a box
of gooey chocolates.
