Creature from the Black Lagoon
The Creature and his beautiful obsession, actress Julia Adams.

Creature from the Black Lagoon was the last of Universal Pictures' classic black and white movie monsters that included Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, and The Mummy.

The Creature was unique in that it was born during the brief era of 3-D films.
It was filmed on outdoor sets and on soundstages at Universal Studios in L.A..

Universal was fortunate that many extraordinary talents came together in the making of Creature, including Henry Mancini contributing to the music, expert 3-D director Jack Arnold behind the camera, aquatic performer Ginger Stanley and the classic 1950's Sci-Fi actors Richard Carlson and Richard Denning as hunky scientists.

Most impressive on camera was the performer who brought The Creature to life underwater. Ricou Browning was able to endure the claustrophobic nature of The Creature's full-body foam rubber suit, plus a lead weight belt that was necessary to prevent the buoyant suit from floating to the surface. This, while swimming powerfully and holding his breath for minutes at a time!

Julia Adams brought her acting talent, intelligence and athleticism to the role of the female scientist who becomes the Creature's obsession.

It was not until Roger Corman's B-movie shocker 'Humanoids From the Deep' that a film dared to graphically show the Creature's probable intentions.
