Bauhaus

Peter Murphy leads the seminal band Bauhaus on their final single release, 'She's In Parties'

Peter Murphy had neither sung nor written songs before his school friend Daniel convinced him to join a new band he was forming in the year 1978.
Guitarist Daniel Ash, his brother David J on bass with drummer Kevin Haskins and singer Peter Murphy christened themselves Bauhaus 1919 (soon to be simply 'Bauhaus') and became one of the most influential bands of the post-punk era. Following the break-up of Bauhaus in 1983, the band members continued on with solo projects, and in the bands Dali's Car, Tones On Tail

and Love And Rockets. Many bands had woven strands of historically gothic influence into their sound before, either through literary or musical references. Bauhaus, however practically launched the modern gothic music scene as a recognized genre singlehandedly, immediately stamped with an aura of vampiric darkness by the theme of their first single, "Bela Lugosi's Dead," that song's association with the vampire film The Hunger, and by the sinister gloom of their classic sound. Bauhaus reformed for a series of concerts in 2005 and 2006
