The famed director
Ridley Scott followed
the success of his
film Alien
with the equally
brilliant and influential
Blade Runner.
Just as Scott had
enlisted the dark
genius of H.R. Giger
to realize the horror
of Alien, Blade
Runner inspired
the genius of composer
Vangelis and futurist
Syd Mead to create
some of the greatest
music and visuals
ever combined on
film.
In Los Angeles in
the year 2010, an
operative named
Deckard is assigned
the task of 'retiring'
four escaped artificial
humans called Replicants
by killing them.
The ultraviolent
events that follow
lead Deckard to
doubt his definition
of humanity.
To date, there have
been two different,
officially released
versions of the
film and of the
soundtrack.
The currently available
DVD is the 'Director's
Cut.' The soundtrack
was originally offered
as an altered, orchestrated
score. A CD of the
amazing, original
music was released
some years later.
