Premier make-up and special effects artist Rick Baker was born in Binghampton, New York, but by his High School years he was living in California and teaching himself the art of costume making. He earned his way into his industry from the bottom up on low budget horror movies like Octaman and The Thing With Two Heads. Five years later he was already a part of film productions like King Kong and Star Wars

Baker's love of simian make-up has made him the best there is at creating convincing ape costumes from Greystoke to Harry and the Hendersons to Mighty Joe Young to Planet of the Apes. Baker received special acclaim for his amazing effects work on American Werewolf in London. His recent films include Hellboy, The Ring and X-Men: The Last Stand.
