Stan Winston is
the creator of many
of the most unforgettable
faces in the modern
history of dark
fantasy filmmaking.
From fearsome and
horrific to seductive
or heartbreaking,
his creatures are
in a world apart
by combining old-school
craft with constant
innovation.
Winston studied
painting and sculpture
in college and began
his Hollywood career
in 1969 as an apprentice
with Disney Studios
learning makeup.
His unique talent
was soon noticed
within the film
industry.
His work on The
Terminator in 1984
brought widespread
acclaim, and his
creations for Jurassic
Park, Aliens, Edward
Scissorhands, The
Predator, The Thing
, Batman Returns,
and Big Fish made
him a legend. Winston
also created the
subtle but effective
makeup in Interview
With the Vampire.
He directed the
cult horror film
Pumpkinhead.
Winston Studios
has created spin-off
s devoted to digital
effects, comics
and action figures
and a film production
company.
