The San Francisco based, darkwave band Switchblade Symphony made music from 1989 through 1999. The core of the band was Susan Wallace, who composed the music, and Tina Root, the lead singer.

The aim of the band members was to use their classical training with the goal of shattering the musical elements and re-assembling them to create a gothic, symphonic sound. Tina Root is now fronting her new trip hop band called Tre Lux, with a debut CD of all cover songs.
