The
humble origins of
Evanescence belie
their extraordinary
success: Amy Lee,
a classically trained
pianist with a passion
for Tori Amos, Radiohead
and Danny Elfman
attracted the attention
of a young guitarist
named Ben Moody
when she pounded
out a song by Meat
Loaf on the piano
at an Arkansas summer
camp in 1994. The
songwriting team
created a band which
found a loyal following,
despite their infrequent
live performances.
Their first EP recording,
consisting of just
100 CD-Rs sold out
in one night in
1999.

The tracks for
the CD 'Fallen'
were recorded in
December of 2002,
and with the inclusion
of 'Bring Me To
Life' on the soundtrack
and video to the
film Daredevil,
the debut CD was
ready to be embraced
at its release in
March, 2003.
After a tumultuous
year and a long,
long time since
their breakthrough
album release, the
world's premier
crossover gothic
rock band has a
another collection
of songs, 'The Open
Door,' recorded
after the departure
of founding member
Ben Moody.
