Katharine Blake and the Mediaeval Baebes

With the dissolution of her original band, Miranda Sex Garden, Katharine Blake returned to her roots, and to the sounds of that band's first album, the angelic sounds of Medieval and Renaissance choral music.

Katharine has always been a bit of a wild girl, at least as far back as her days as a student of classical music at the Purcell School of Music near London.

Her knack for finding the lovliest roses for her musical gardens creates an ensemble that makes the ancient harmonies seem like siren's songs, sung with the combined innocence and seductiveness of mischievous sprites and fairies.

The Mediaeval Baebes have established a legendary reputation for themselves by reviving ancient text and song and turning historical fantasy into reality for the pleasure of modern audiences. Their first album, Salva Nos, was Virgin Classics fastest selling debut album. The band's follow-up, Worldes Blyss, blazed into the Classical Charts at No. 1 to widespread critical acclaim. July 05 saw them return with a brand new studio album, titled Mirabilis. A provcative collective of beautiful maidens, the Baebes are comprised of seven young women vocalists, composers and instrumentalists - from all corners of the globe, who delight in their reputation for wantonness whilst singing songs from an age of innocence.
