Chris Cunningham, director of the Aphex Twin video Come To Daddy created Rubber Johnny. The film was originally conceived as a brief TV commercial for the Aphex Twin albun 'Drukqs.'

The disturbing video briefly explores the world of a mutant child who is kept locked in a dark room under the influence of forced medication with only a small dog for companionship. In his twisted mental state, he experiences audio, visual and kinetic hallucinations and delusions in which he is surrounded by music and beams of light.

The expression 'rubber johnny' is a British slang term for a condom. Chris Cunningham himself plays the part of Johnny, who was created by using a combination of digital morphing and applied prosthetics. A DVD of Rubber Johnny includes extensive 'making of' features.
