The Witches' Almanac - in tribute ... and memoriam.

A graduate of Pembroke College, Brown University, and the Rhode Island School of Design, Elizabeth Pepper had moved to New York City in the fifties to study advanced typography and become the Art Director of Gourmet magazine. In 1971 Elizabeth Pepper teamed up with John Wilcock (one of the co-founders of The Village Voice) to publish the first The Witches' Almanac. In doing so, her life was changed.

A respected member of the Craft community, her wisdom and contributions went beyond the publishing of the, now famous, Almanac to include books on myths, lore charms, and Celtic rites.

Many of the etchings depicted in the Almanac were either her work or those of her late husband; Martin De Costa. Additional etchings were historically sourced.

While this year's edition marks the Almanac's 25th year (of continuous publication) it also, sadly, marks the passing of Elizabeth Pepper in July 2005. While the Almanac will go on, her unique contributions will be missed.

Replete with spells, incantations, lunar phases, Celtic lore, mythology, ghost stories, poetry, tarot insight, and the occasional recipe, this compendium of wisdom and information for those in the Craft community ... and the curious, remains an annual "must have" reference whose influence cannot be overlooked and will endure another 25 years to come! Discover The Witches' Almanac today!
