The plant known commonly as Belladonna or Deadly Nightshade is one of the most poisonous in the world. The leaves, berries and roots of the plant can all cause death if swallowed.

The effect of Belladonna is caused by its inhibiting effect on the nervous system, with dilated pupils, dizziness, heart arrythmia, difficult breathing and delerium being the first symptoms before a fatal dose causes cardiac arrest.

Belladonna has been used in small doses for its ability to induce vivid hallucinations.
