Until its reprinting by Valancourt Press, The Forest of Valancourt was one of the most rare books in the world, with only one known copy in existence, preserved in the Bodleian Library in Oxford, England. The classic Gothic novel tells the story of Lucien, a young man who sets off on a quest to prove himself worthy of the love of a Countess, only to be betrayed by his own father and imprisoned in a dungeon of the Spanish Inquisition.
