The Birthday of Jimmy Page / Led Zeppelin's Kashmir
The song Kashmir was performed at every Led Zeppelin concert from its introduction in 1975

The dark romantic inspirations of the songwriting team of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant came mostly from Norse mythology, Tolkienesque fantasy or morbid tales as in the song Gallows Pole.

Kashmir is exceptional in the Led Zeppelin discography for its middle eastern styled melodic line (originally from a tuning pattern Page used) and for the dominant use of musicians on strings and horns.
Robert Plant wrote the lyrics while motoring across the Sahara desert.
